About Ian Weston
We've owned Casa Canyella since 2003, and have always enjoyed holidaying in Spain. We first visited this area many years ago and were impressed by it's delightful coves and beaches. It has never been over-developed. When you've spent all year working in television and films it's an ideal getaway - a great place to come and unwind.
Ian Weston purchased this Villa in 2003
Why Ian Weston chose Province of Girona
Traditional quaint Spanish villa, loads of outside space combined with spectacular views, fabulous pool, and only 5 minutes by car from the beach... Click on the 'Owner's Website' for more pictures and information at the bottom of the page to see why...
What makes this Villa unique
Casa Canyella has fabulous views of the Mediterranean and onwards to Palamos as well as overlooking Calonge and the neighbouring valley. Geckos an be seen basking on the terrace under the mid-day sun (although they're very nervous and soon disappear when people are around). The front balcony completes the 360 degree vista and is great for the setting sun at the end of the day. Casa Canyella provides an excellent standard of accommodation together with air-conditioning, satellite and internet UK TV and a local representative for the benefit of our guests. We have many guests return year after year - Casa Canyella has everything you need for a chilled out relaxing holiday WiFi is provided in the villa. Public WiFi is available free along the beach-front at Sant Antoni, as well as the main square in Calonge (Placa de la Concordia). WiFi is also provided free throughout Platja d'Aro and in most restaurants and bars. Website: The property has it's own website, with more pictures and information at: costa-brava-villa.co.uk.

Damage and incidentals
You will be responsible for any damage to the rental property caused by you or your party during your stay.
This property was older but well maintained and it suited us perfectly. The house is large and rustic with wooden shutters and many large windows that swing open to let the air flow through. It is set well up on a hillside and the views are terrific! There is a large , fabulous pool, an outdoor grill and lots of places to relax around the pool or share a meal with friends. Ian was a pleasure to deal with and did whatever he could to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is well equipped free wifi is available but a bit slow (even by the standard of seniors such as ourselves.) This is a very homey and comfy place, not luxurious, but very appealing to us! We would totally recommend it and thanks Ian for your guidance and hospitality!
Lovely place for a family holiday
Lovely family villa in a good quiet location.
Lovely private villa with pool. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool is a great size and plenty of sun beds and places to sit out. Not dear from some lovely beaches.
A wonderful week in a lovely villa - Home from Home
We had a wonderful week in Casa Canyella. Communications with the owner Ian were very good and we did have need to speak to him during our stay (nothing major), and he helped us with the issue straight away which is reassuring. The villa is spacious, the pool fabulous, clean and immaculate. The house really did have everything we needed. Items in the kitchen, around the lounge, the furnishings were good quality, clean and had a nice feel about it. We were four adults and one small baby - so the lovely cot was welcome. Fans in all the bedrooms (air con would be perfect), but air con in the lounge kept the downstairs nice and cool. The views are wonderful so I cannot recommend the Villa enough.
Fantastic location and scenery
Great holiday home. Good size pool and quiet location.
Situated at the head of a quiet cul-de-sac on a small urbanisation at the very heart of the Costa Brava, the villa is a 5 min drive from our local blue-flag beach at St. Antoni, and two minutes from the medieval village of Calonge. Calonge is well known for it's Castle, weekly market (Thursday) and classical musical festivals throughout the summer. It also has a permanent exhibition of paintings and handicrafts. There is a well-stocked supermarket within walking distance.
Sant. Antoni de Calonge, with it's long white sandy beach, has many good restaurants & shops. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance of the Villa.
The seaside towns of Platja d'Aro and San Feliu de Guixols have a lively night-life. You can even hire a segway to ride along Platja d'Aro seafront.
The drive to Tossa del Mar is simply stunning and the Salvador Dali museum at Figueres has to be seen at least once.
The villa is well served by Girona Airport (30 min), Barcelona Airport (60 min) and Reus Airport. Ryanair, Jet 2 and Easy-Jet all have year-round regular flights.
Other Activities: There are many local festivals including many international Jazz festivals, Seafood - 'Gamba de Palamos' and Sant Feliu de Guixol's 'Blue-Fish' festival etc.
Casa Canyella is a brilliant villa with hilltop location, superb views, close to the sea, shops and night-life and yet you can swim in your own pool and be be totally private, chilled out and away from it all.
