About this property

Large independent studio. Superb peaceful setting, stunning views.

The studio has lovely south-facing views over a courtyard towards the hillsides opposite. At the end of a no-through lane, it is in a peaceful hamlet setting. The owners, (who both work) are on hand in the old farmhouse and are happy to advise and assist if required.

Whilst the studio is entirely independent with its own sitting out area, guests are also welcome to use the gardens and grounds (2 hectares). The view is panoramic and has inspired photographers and artists alike as the light and colours change throughout the day and seasons.

The studio comprises a small entrance, a shower-room (large shower, vanity unit, WC, heated towel rail). The large main room (40m²) has a fitted kitchen area with garden door, living/dining area. The bedroom area has a king-size bed (180cm which can be separated to make two single beds, if preferred).
For cooler evenings, there is a wood-pellet burning stove, simple to operate.

This is a perfect spot for doing absolutely nothing, on a chaise longue with a book and a pair of binoculars to admire the remarkable birdlife. There are woodland walks on the doorstep if a little activity is called for.

For sight-seeing purposes, it is strategically located in the centre of the Dordogne. Motorway access at 15 minutes makes Bordeaux centre reachable in about 1h15.

Périgueux, the county town is a 20 minute run and full of interest with its roman ruins (arena, villa-museum) and superbly renovated renaissance quarter. The celebrated mime festival (“Mimos”) takes place annually in Périgueux (2020: 29 July to 2 Aug), as does the New Orleans Jazz festival (“MNOP”). You can also enjoy the (free) jazz/blues/swing concerts held in the various squares in the old town (“Macadam Jazz”).
The “Bandas” festival in St Astier (July) is worth a mention as thousands flock to hear a number of brass bands as they parade and play in the streets.

Bergerac airport is 30 minutes away. Brantôme, Les Eyzies and Le Bugue are 35 minutes away, Sarlat 1hr.

Great place for a getaway in the heart of Perigord
We had a fantastic stay here and it was hard to leave. The setting and view of the valley was so pretty. Interiors were very clean and modern. Comfy bed. The pellet stove is digital and worked perfectly to keep the place warm in November. Kitchen is well stocked with what you need to make meals. Big bonus was the drip coffee maker, which you don’t see often in other holiday rentals. Location is perfectly situated for doing day trips to Périgueux, Sarlat, Montbizillac, etc. owners are fantastic and communication about how to get to the property were easy to follow. We highly recommend this gite.

Tranquil country setting
After visiting multiple beautiful but very busy European cities on our trip, we ended up here for a nice long 10 days and what a good call that was. This place is as nice or better than the pictures. We would have loved to stay even longer. The setting is just gorgeous, we loved every single day. We spent a good part of our days exploring nearby villages in the area then coming back to cook dinner and relaxing. The place has everything you could possibly need to make great meals. Tracey and Jean-francoise were both so nice and welcoming and very helpful with tips or answering any questions we had. Thank you so much!

Idyllic stay in the Dordogne
If you are looking for a peaceful stay in the beautiful French countryside with spectacular views, kind and very helpful hosts, and a convenient and well appointed small house to stay in— then this place is for you. The bed is extremely comfortable, shower excellent, laundry machine worked well, the kitchen was well equipped for our simple needs, and the place was immaculately clean. There is a small supermarket about 15 minutes away that made stocking up very easy. The hosts supplied a lot of information about hikes, restaurants, and the local area. Our entire stay was just perfect and if we ever return we will stay here again.

A very nice stay
The studio apartment was roomy and comfortable. The kitchen, as well as the studio itself, was well-equipped. The bathroom was excellent. The views were wonderful and the neighborhood was quiet and very rural. The owners were very nice and hospitable, but not intrusive in any way. Tracey was quite knowledgeable about the area and gave us good information about places to go and things to see. She also has an extensive collection of brochures and maps available. We were very pleased with our choice. We spent 5 nights here and it was a nice respite in the middle of an otherwise busy visit to France.
