Clean, quiet (sound insulated), high-ceiling domed, fully tiled room with its own MTNL DSL internet line located in South Bombay near Kalbadevi, Marine Drive, Marine Lines & Churchgate stations, Metro Cinema/Dhobitalao, & Saifee/Bombay Hospitals.
We are centrally located in South Mumbai, in Marine Lines, walking
distance from Marine Lines Station on the Western Railway. We're
fairly close to two major hospitals, namely Bombay Hospital and Saifee
Hospital. If you want to use a gym, I recommend the one in Saifee
Hospital. They also offer yoga classes.
We're also close to a major group of wholesale markets, namely Lohar
Chawl (electric appliances), Crawford Market (food and misc), and
Mangaldas Market (cloth).
I have described the guest room as a Tower Room. The room is isolated
so should be relatively quiet.
Our flat comprises the entire second floor of a two storey
building. This is a fairly old building, with high ceilings. The room
in question is actually in an adjacent building, but the two buildings
are connected by a bridge (see pictures). The vicinity of that room is
empty, so you should not get neighboring noise. I've also been at
pains to make the room as quiet as possible. It's got a sound-proof
door (30 db reduction), and the windows are uPVC (Deceuninck)
windows. So the room is reasonably sealed off.
The room has a high domed ceiling, and the outside is painted yellow -
you can see it in the photos as a yellow dome.
The room only has one door. There is no other entrance or exit. You'll
have a key for the lock on this door, naturally. The door locks from the outside with a deadbolt and padlock. Since the door is soundproof, a mortice-type lock would compromise the soundproofness. There is also a deadbolt on the inside of the door, to lock it from the inside.
The room contains a single California King size bed (metal frame). That's 6 feet by 7 feet in size. Replacing it with two single beds is not an option, sorry. The room also contains a wardrobe, a Sony Trinitron TV, and a desk.
Amenities include the basics: A/C, bed sheets, pillows, towels (hand
and bath), soap/shampoo, hair dryer, hangers, an alarm clock.
There is a separate DSL internet line (MTNL) for that room, currently 4 Mbps, attached to a wireless router.
Breakfast is included if you want it. It can be served at 10.30 am or later.
Our flat has a balcony style garden on the same floor (the second). And there is a terrace on the level above, accessible via a staircase.
Note that this room does not have an en suite bathroom. There are one full bathroom (sink + toilet + shower stall) close by, which is reserved solely for guest use. This is accessible via the garden. Note that this involves crossing a space that is open to the sky. If it is raining, you will get wet without suitable protection. It normally only rains here during the monsoons (rainy season). Umbrellas are provided during the monsoons.
Additionally, there is a shower room (containing a sink + shower) again reserved solely for guest use, and a toilet (containing a sink + toilet), which is shared. Both the shower room and toilet are accessible from the kitchen area. Note additionally that the shower in the shower room is not enclosed - this is quite common in India.
Here water is stored in tanks, so each bathroom has a water pressure pump attached to it, which you will need to turn on. Each bathroom also has a separate water storage heater which you will also need to turn on for hot water. It will take a little while to heat up - allow 5 to 10 minutes.
I'll distribute survey/suggestion forms when you arrive. You can
return them to me whenever you want before you leave. I'd like
suggestions on how to improve the guest experience.
