The two larger bedrooms can have either two single beds or one large double, with an undetectable seam. The smaller bedroom has a single bed and in exceptional circumstances it can also be made into a double or two singles but is a small room so is better for children. There is also a cot for a baby.

The apartment is on the first floor and has a lovely front balcony which overlooks the pretty rue Hoche, a newly renovated and pedestrianised street midway between the seafront and the train station, just a couple of minutes’ walk to both. Cafes, boutiques, tea shops and newly planted trees give the street a very French relaxed feel. The rue d’Antibes, the main shopping street, is between the apartment and the beach, and the old town, Le Suquet, which is full of atmosphere and has many restaurants in it's twisty cobbled streets, is a 5 or 10 minute stroll away. Supermarkets, outdoor markets, all categories of shops, bars and cafes are all very close by but by no means 'in your face'. Down near the harbour are boules areas...and there is a set usually left in the apartment. In this area on Sunday mornings there is an antiques market, as there is also at the Marche Fourville on Mondays, instead of the usual fruit and vegetables. The produce there is an enormous photo-opportunity so do visit there even if you don't want to buy! Actually food shopping is one of the highlights in Cannes, because it has such splendid fresh produce at the markets, some amazing delicatessens and supermarkets. Just gazing in the windows of the delis and the cake shops is a wonder in itself!
When you first arrive, the sandy beach and a stroll along the Croisette is a first priority. Then a visit to the beautiful old Town to see the panoramic views of Cannes and the bay from the church at the top. You can also walk along the seafront in both directions as far as your legs can take you. The train station is only a couple of minutes walk away and the trains are efficient and not expensive. They also allow you to get on and off on the way to your destination so this makes for super days out, especially as it must be one of the most scenic train tracks in the world. Little known is that there are two islands in the bay of Cannes and ferry boats run to them from the harbour. They are great for walking, relaxing or visiting the monastery there. Grasse, an inland small town and the centre of the perfumery industry, is a short train journey inland and again a scenic ride and well worth a visit. In spite of the common belief that the French Riviera is all developed, there are too many scenic walks for me to mention here, both coastal, river and mountain, including foothills.

About Barbara Roberts
Our daughter was at Aix en Provence University and then worked along the Riviera coast for some time. She kept returning to Cannes and we soon got to know and love it as much as she did! It of course has a reputation for glitz and glamour during the Film Festival but it is also a normal working town which means there is something going on all the year round whereas many other locations along the Cote d'Azur can be closed and quiet in the off season. There is always something to see, from the sea front, to the harbour, the old town and the markets, not to mention the wonderful shops in the town centre. You can relax or not as the mood takes you and there are always people enjoying the pleasures of Cannes and we love to join them!

Why Barbara Roberts chose Cannes City Centre
Knowing Cannes so well, we were happy to wait until the right apartment in the right place became available and we have never regretted the wait! We now have what we think is the perfect location for beach, shops and station, a sunny balcony, big windows and lovely old shutters throughout, making it bright, sunny and airy inside. All the bedrooms are on the back of the apartment overlooking the courtyard at the rear and therefore nice and quiet and our main living room overlooks the rue Hoche and has one set of large windows and also a set of large french windows on to the balcony so a sunny room in which to relax or dine!
What makes this Apartment unique
We can be on the beach in a few minutes, have everything we need on the doorstep and easy access to the railway station and buses. We love walking and are spoilt for choice in Cannes, with the Croisette, the harbour, the old town and plenty more accessible via the railway, which must be one of the most scenic in France. It is so easy to visit the other resorts along the Cote d'Azur from Cannes and having no need for a car is certainly a bonus here.
