About this property

Come and stay in this charming home right in the center of Canyon, Texas. A few blocks from everything Canyon has to offer. The home is large enough to have Thanksgiving for the whole family. You are just moments away from the town square filled with wonderful shopping and some of Canyon's best eateries. We are also located just a few blocks from West Texas A& M University. Also, 10 min drive to take a day hike in the breathtaking Palo Duro Canyon, the second largest canyon in the country. We are truly close to it all!

The Abbey House is an older home rich in history. This home away from home offers great spaces for you and your fellow guests to spread out and enjoy your stay.

The house has 1 King bedroom that functions as the master bedroom. The second bedroom is equipped with a bunkbed with a full bottom and twin top. There is also another twin bed with a trundle in the second bedroom.
Off of the breakfast nook area there is another twin bed with a trundle in the sunroom area. The house can accommodate 8/9 guests comfortably.

Please respect our neighbors and observe a quiet time from 12:00 midnight till 8:00am.

Delightful home

The Abby House was well-equipped. The neighborhood was quiet. We were able to just enjoy a peaceful break with each other away from everyday responsibilities. Exactly what we were looking for. Thank you!

Work Trip

We rented this house for our employees. The house is great. The Owner/Host has been the best. He checks in just to make sure everything is working. I highly recommend this Vrbo.

About the host

Hosted by Russell & Elizabeth Melcher

Our families moved to Canyon when Russell and I were both teenagers. We met as students at Canyon High School and quickly became high school sweethearts. We both attended and graduated from West Texas A&M University. In 2002, we got married and bought our first home here in Canyon. We started a family of our own in 2009. Russell and I have made Canyon our home and have enjoyed raising our two beautiful children in such a great community. We have multiple rental properties in the area and take great pride in all of our homes. The Abbey House, built in 1921, has a special place in our heart. It was originally the home to the Sisters of Saint Benedict. They used The Abbey House as their chapel and the adjoining house as their dormitory. In 1999, Russell's parents purchased this home and remodeled it making it their family home, while offering housing for college girls in the adjoining house that was once the dormitory for the Sisters. Elizabeth lived there while attending WTAMU. Years later, in 2015, we were able to purchase the property and begin restoring this beautiful home. We recently named this house The Abbey House in honor of it's rich history.
