Great place to stay in Canton!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was well stocked with basic supplies, dishes etc and had all the towels/linens we needed. We enjoyed the vintage furnishings and lovely comforting feeling that an older home has.
I enjoyed my stay at this property and will be staying here again.
Spacious and historic property.
This house was perfect for my family of four. We had plenty of room to spread out and did not even use all the rooms in the house. Walking distance to downtown too!
Canton Corner House
Wonderful location to explore Canton. Well appointed, beautiful older home.
Quaint Stay in Canton
Suzie is a great host and this home is a cozy, historical place to stay in Canton, MS. Short distance from the square and accommodated all of our needs during our visit. Sweet house with character.
Antique Heaven and Old House Challenges
The house was built in 1919, according to the owner, and beautifully appointed with a wide range of antiques. Great wallpapers and color choices. We stayed much longer than most - almost four weeks - so saw more issues than most would. The floors all slope different ways but lovely door stoppers are provided in each room to keep doors where you want them. It does have a strong musty odor like most really old homes.
The home was basically clean. I saw corners of rooms that hadn't been cleaned of cobwebs, and the old porcelain in the kitchen and baths is worn. Hot water valve for tub is behind the back of the tub. We didn't use it. The bathroom sink faucets would drip unless really tightly cranked close. Shower head was good but takes awhile for hot water to reach the shower. There were no extra garbage bags and very limited cleaning supplies but lots of toilet paper was supplied. Towels are very clean and plentiful. A two-day long tropical storm went through the first weekend we were there and the ceiling in the dining room leaked as did the door in the sun room. The owners responded to the emergency situation but had not fixed the ceiling leak during our stay.
The home is close to downtown, a fairly easy walk even for old folks. It is on a main street of town and we heard more sirens than I expected - I think there must be a fire station close by. Ambient light from the street reaches most rooms at night.
My husband grew up in an older home and truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The smell was less pleasant to me. The owners were very responsive and shared ways to contact them directly. One was hospitalized during our stay which accounts for the delayed response to the leak. My husband would stay there again happily but I would find something a bit newer.
