We arrived after a 12 hour drive, and when we pulled up we were hoping we had the wrong address. This is a mixed purpose dwelling where some persons are permanent residents. We walked up to the door and there was spider webbing, and several bees swarming the front door. The lock was very difficult to open, but after multiple attempts we get the key out of the lock box. Honestly, we a hard enough shove we probably could have entered the home, it is not a secure dwelling. We entered the musty place and immediately noticed the kitchen floor that had not appeared to have been cleaned. The window coverings were barely hung, and veiled in some cotton fabric that did not provide privacy in the least. There is no privacy and we, at the front door, could hear the neighbor above conversation and as they walked upon the floor the ceiling tiles above us moved. The home is cavernous, so there is little natural light and no widows in the bed and bath area. We entered the restroom to freshen up and found the sink was full of bugs, the room was not clean, the bathtub shower, did not appear clean. We looked into the bedrooms to find dead grasshoppers on the bed. My daughter was developing breathing issues, she refused to sleep in the bed with bugs on them, and she wanted to leave right away. We were in the home for about 10 minutes, and left. We attempted to contact the owner through VRBO but were unsuccessful. After we had to scramble to find somewhere to stay, on the holiday weekend, we found a place 40 miles away. After this ordeal VRBO and I attempted to reach out to the owner more than 5 times all together with no response. Minimally, after spending money for nothing, I attempted to get my cleaning deposit, back. I have received no correspondence, not so much as a note of apology. Overall, this week cost me a lot in lodging. For us, it was too terrible to staff and I feel that I was stiffed for nothing.
