Chicago is my hometown, and was unable to stay at my usual place due to construction. As this place is in one of my favorite neighborhoods, we decided to spend a little extra and give it a try.
Parking was a bit of a challenge, the nearest spot hero spaces being about 8 blocks away, but a little bit of driving around and we were able to park within two blocks - no worries.
Check in was easy-peasee from the details provided. The apartment was in a relatively quiet building (we've been apartment / two flat dwellers our whole lives, so we're used to the ambient noise.) Very clean, and just the right amount of space! Great big windows, which we needed to open wide for our stay, as the temp was in the 80's and there's no A/C. I don't know if they plan on providing small window units, but Chicago summers can be hot and humid, so one would hope. There are no ceiling fans; maybe a couple of tower fans for the sleeping spaces would be helpful.
The linen situation was odd - there was only a fitted sheet and duvet on the bed - no top sheet. Don't know if that's a thing, now, but seemed odd.
Also, did not notice that there is no microwave in the listing. I guess one just comes to expect that since you'll find them just about anywhere you stay now. But after purchasing some microwaveable breakfasts at the nearby grocery (very good access to resources!) had to laugh at myself when oops! No microwave! The place is in an older building, and really nice one at that - but they don't seem to have an outlet to spare. So take note - you will not be able to microwave here.
Also - no kitchen towels - but plenty of paper towels.
Cute little dishwasher.
Good pub on the corner for dinner. And a Starbucks two blocks away, so that's handy.
All things considered, tho, we probably would not stay again at this price. Although we liked the charm, and the neighborhood, the lack of the basics (especially A/C - second night was humid and uncomfortable) made this not quite the best value for money.
Location and charm, tho - A+
