About this property

Quiet year round lake home, swimming/fishing, near Pictured Rocks, trail access

Our home away from home is a spacious, 1700 square foot, fully furnished get away in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan. We are located on scenic H-58 roughly halfway between Munising and Grand Marais, and are just minutes from the Pictured Rocks National lake shore where you will find numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, and Lake Superior beaches to explore. Additionally, we are less than a mile from a network of trail systems that allow you to go in all 4 directions. Whether you're a snowmobiler, or ride side by sides/ATV's, you have endless options for exploration right from home base, with plenty of parking available for large trailers.

If you want a break from the sight seeing, enjoy an afternoon or evening sitting lakeside at the house. We offer over 300 feet of frontage along the north side of Nevins Lake, that includes a sandy beach area/fishing dock. This 276-acre lake has no public access, allowing for a quiet and peaceful experience. It's not uncommon for a whole summer day to pass without seeing any motorized watercraft, which creates opportunities to observe wildlife such as loons, eagles, and beavers in their natural environment. Nevins Lake is great for fishing/swimming, or paddling/exploring, and provides a wonderful opportunity to escape and unwind. While there's no public access, small boats on trailers can be backed down to the water and launched from our beach area (A vehicle with 4-wheel drive is recommended). We provide 4 Kayaks, a canoe, a paddle boat, and a row boat that are included with your rental as well.
In the evening, unwind around a bon-fire (firewood included!). Roast brats or smores while listening to the beautiful calls of loons ushering in a night sky that only the remote UP can offer.

The cabin itself has all the amenities that allow for a comfortable/contemporary stay in a remote location. Ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends, it comfortably sleeps 4-6 adults. The house includes a fully stocked kitchen with all the items you’ll need to prepare and serve a home cooked meal. There is reliable high speed internet, as well as Satellite TV.

A short 25-minute drive West from Nevins Lake will bring you to the amazing town of Munising; the same distance in the opposite direction will bring you to Grand Marais. Nestled between these 2 towns along H-58 are dozens of points of interest, including Lake Superior beaches, hiking trails, and waterfalls.

Here are a few resources to help plan your itinerary-
- 17 amazing waterfalls- https://www.munising.org/attractions/waterfalls/
- Pictured rocks hiking trails- https://www.munising.org/recreation/hiking/
- Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore- https://www.munising.org/pictured-rocks/
- Lake Superior beaches- https://www.munising.org/recreation/beaches/

Every season has countless unique and exciting experiences to be had.
Summertime is a given, and there are plenty of reasons why. However, the best kept secrets are in the "off months" when the crowds dissipate. Many consider September/October to be the best months to visit the UP. Fall colors are unrivaled in the Hiawatha national forest areas, and paint the landscape on the elevated shores of Nevins Lake.

We look forward to being your host and helping to make your UP experience great no matter the season!

*****IMPORTANT NOTE**** Due to the remote location, trash service is not provided and guests are asked to take their trash with them. Many renters choose to dispose smaller amounts on their day trips throughout the stay. Otherwise, there are 2 good options while heading home as well. Going West towards Munising, there is Wood Island Waste Management that accepts bagged trash. If you are heading East, Seney has a gas Station/convenience store called Maters Stop & Go. They charge a couple dollars a bag to dispose in their dumpster. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding.

Snowmobile weekend
This was a great location for a weekend snowmobile trip with the guys. There was plenty of room for four grown men to sleep comfortably, with beds to spare. We would definitely stay again.

Nevins Lake Cabin - Peaceful Getaway
The cabin and its location were both great and made for a perfect stay for couples, or would be a great place to bring your family. The property was very conveniently located to many great attractions, yet very quiet and peaceful at night. The owners were great to deal with, provided good insight on things to do and see, and made for a very nice stay. We would definitely come back.

Relaxing Lakefront Family Vacation
We enjoyed a relaxing, multigenerational family vacation at this home on Lake Nevins. The property is relatively flat which allowed the older people in our group to easily access the dock. The owners were great to work with and responded quickly to all our questions prior to and during the week long trip. Nick and Jill demonstrated a lot of flexibility for our larger group so that we could all stay on the property together. They were great hosts!! We brought in a fishing boat, but equally enjoyed fishing off of the dock. We cooked most meals at the cabin and spent the evenings enjoying the fire. The house was sufficiently stocked for our needs, with plenty of kitchen tools and bath towels. The only thing to make note of for planning is that there is no trash pickup (due to remote location) and, every day, we had to go and find places to drop off the trash we generated (we had a large group). We often paid about $4-$5 per trash bag. If you need to buy provisions for your stay, the nearest full grocery store is about 35 minutes away, but you can buy ice and beverages within 15-20 minutes. There are plenty of sites and activities in the area, which kept us entertained throughout the week. I recommend this property for a relaxing vacation in the Upper Peninsula!
