About this property

Quaint Cottage Retreat on Secluded Cove of Wall Lake

Quaint, cozy cottage is a true treasure! While a lot of places on a lake are right next to each other, this property is a truly private oasis, set back in the cove, surrounded by trees and located on a dead-end road with only woods across the road. The cottage has been completely renovated and updated, and from the moment you walk in the door, the vibrant colors make you feel cheerful. We call it our "happy place." It has a welcoming mud room with cubbies to put your shoes, and hooks to hang your coats. There is a convenient washer and dryer in the mud room. There are two welcoming bedrooms, one with a full bed with views of the woods and tall pines, and the other with a queen bed with a view of the side yard. Both have ample storage space in the closets, bed frame drawers and nightstands so you can make yourselves at home. There is also a queen sized air mattress for two additional guests. There is one full bathroom. There is a galley kitchen with built-in banquette seating in the dining room. The table is on wheels for easy access to the corner seating. The living room is very cozy with modern amenities, including a couch and love seat and swivel chairs to face the tv or the lake. It is tastefully decorated with metal and wood wall art and built in book cases filled with books and games for your enjoyment. There is a bonus room off the living room for reading and relaxing or just viewing the cove. A sliding glass door opens up onto the phenomenal 700 square foot deck that offers outdoor space with a grill and refrigerator and spaces for gathering, eating, relaxing and making life-time memories. Steps off the deck lead to a stone fire-pit with additional seating, and outdoor lighting to set the mood. There is also a dock with a small table and chairs to have coffee in the morning. Although pets are not allowed, there are enough creatures to keep you company. From the cove you can sit back and listen to the bullfrogs, watch the blue herons, and fish from the dock. Although we don't allow people to bring in their own boats to this private lake, there are kayaks, a pedal boat, and a small fishing boat with oars for use to explore the lake. The pedal boat holds 4 people up to 800 pounds and has a platform from which you can dive off of, and a ladder to climb back up on. You can also fish off the pedal boat. Also, it’s important to note that there is no beach or recommended swimming in the cove, but the pedal boat allows you to get to the open lake for a refreshing swim. There is also a "Point" on the lake where people can go to swim that is shallow and people also dock their boats or enjoy floating. This is truly an oasis. Looking forward to your visit. You won't be disappointed with this cozy cottage retreat to replenish your spirit!

Cozy cabin
We absolutely loved this little house! They thought of everything and were very accommodating. Loved all the decor. We celebrated Christmas there with our daughter, son in law, and grandson and had a blast! We would highly recommend staying here. We hope to stay there again soon!

We had a wonderful time relaxing while spending a few days away from our normal daily routine. The cottage was beautiful, had great amenities and friendly neighbors. Paula and Tammy made us feel welcome and the small details included were greatly appreciated.

Fall family trip
The cottage is warm, friendly and inviting. The scenery was beautiful. It is the perfect place to unwind with friends and family, play board games, watch TV, or enjoy time on the lake. Given that it was fall, we did not go out onto the lake, but we did enjoy fishing from the dock. We were able to catch several lovely fish, including a couple of big mouth bass. My partner caught her very first fish ever at this property, which will be a memory that we both cherish forever. This property is stocked with everything that you need from toiletries to linens to spices in the kitchen and recreational gear. The decor is amazing. He will definitely enjoy your stay at Tammy and Paula’s.

I am a program officer at a private foundation doing work to advance family economic security and family well-being. I'm a social worker/therapist by training, and love helping others be the best they can be. I love nature and being outdoors, love trees, the lake, boating, hiking, playing ice hockey, pickle ball, writing poetry, photography, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and meeting new people. Tammy is a graphic designer and owns her own business, doing work for national and local corporate clients and nonprofits. She also loves renovating property as a hobby and has been doing so for many years, as she learned the tricks of the trade from her dad growing up, who built their own house. She completely remodeled the cottage you are staying at or considering. Tammy also enjoys listening to music, playing pickle ball, hiking in nature, going to new Breweries, being on the lake, and spending time with her friends and family. We are both positive people, and we love lake life. We know life gets busy and can be stressful at times, so we really wanted to be able to offer a cozy secluded escape for people to relax, play, and recharge their spirits!

Why they chose this property

Originally, we were living in Portage, MI, and we happened to be driving around one Sunday afternoon looking for lake property, and came upon this property for sale by chance. The moment we pulled in the driveway, we knew it would be our home away from home. It was a perfect fixer upper. We purchased the property the next day, and spent a year remodeling and renovating it. The results are the magnificent property you see before you. We painted the cottage full of vibrant colors, and we call it our "Happy Place." We then spent the next 2 years coming to the cottage every weekend during the summer. We realized we loved being at the lake so much that we decided to buy a more permanent, larger home right up the road from the cottage and become full-time residents of Wall Lake. We then decided we wanted to share the happiness and relaxation that the cottage brought us, with others, so we decided to list it on VRBO.

What makes this property unique

This cottage is a sacred space, and it has brought us so much joy, and we wanted to share that with others. It is a private, secluded piece of property. Even though you have neighbors, they are not right up next to you like most lake properties, but are separated by woods and trees. There is also an awesome firepit that makes you feel like you are camping. Because you are the last house on the cove, it brings more privacy, and there are only two neighbors on the cove with you. You can hear the bullfrogs and kadydids at night. You also get to see blue herons, many different kinds of birds, and lots of leaping frogs along the shoreline. Sometimes you also see big and little turtles sunbathing on logs, deer, and occasional bald eagles. Because of the 700 sq. foot deck, you have so much living space outside to relax on the deck furniture. You can also sit on the dock which has a wide space for sunbathing or having coffee in the mornings at the table. The property is completely updated inside, with unique art and amenities. It is incredibly cozy and inviting. It is a place to relax, kayak, write poetry, do yoga or meditation, do photography, take walks, or just pamper yourself and your family. It will be a place you can create memories year after year. We hope you enjoy this sacred happy place as much as we do.
