About this property

Native forest paradise, lava themed decor

Immerse yourself in an exceptional once-in-a-lifetime experience on the Eastern tip of the Big Island, in this newly renovated lava themed suite. Surrounded on three sides by native forest, open to gorgeous skies and breezes from the north and 5 star, this gem is a lovely 40 minute drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and many other incredible sights. This is the real Hawaii, not a hotel. If adventure is your thing you won't want to miss the beauty and thrill of nature's explosive volcanic power and return to relax in comfort and style.
This two story, newly renovated, custom home invites you in to a one of a kind interior experience, your own lava themed decor private guest suite. Entire second floor is yours, featuring a private lanai off your bedroom with native forest view, queen sized bed plus unique handmade furniture using reclaimed wood, private bath with walk-in shower and multiple shower heads, work desk, separate living room, elevated ceilings and two closets. In addition to the master bedroom, your private space provides a separate living room with a queen futon sofa bed, mini-fridge, microwave oven and coffee maker. A whole house UV filter system provides safe, drinkable water throughout the home.
Views of the forest can be seen from the many windows and private lanai. Property is forested on three sides and open to breezes and sky from the north. This lava themed home sits in the heart of Hawaii, in Leilani Estates, on the Big Island.
Situated on an acre wrapped in native Hawaiian rain forest, fruit trees, flowers and birds, comfortable country living in this 1,700 square foot spacious two-story, custom home is what Hawaii vacations are all about. Relax in the peace and quiet of this forested acre, view the sunset from your private lanai and the night sky from the outdoor covered area. Venture out to view lava eruptions, waterfalls, beaches, mountains and many more exciting and breathtaking Big Island spots.
The entire upper floor is yours, but that's not all. Enjoy shared access, with the owner only, to the spacious lower floor with yet another living room, fully furnished, high ceilings, forest views, Roku tv. Plus fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, air fryer, blender, mixer, microwave, gas range etc. Indoor and outdoor lanai, meditation room with massage rocking chair, washer and dryer, and spa bath. Covered outdoor seating, with surrounding garden makes a nice dining experience. Free Wi-fi throughout.
Owner is a 35 year resident and an award winning baker who resides in the home in separate private rooms on the lower floor. The remaining lower floor, as described above, is a shared area, shared with the owner only. Your privacy is highly respected. Two people is the maximum number of guests per party. One party per stay. This is the real Hawaii, not a resort.
The lava eruption of 2018 in Leilani Estates has left behind a spectacular landscape of some of the world's newest Earth, most majestic rain forests and dramatic views.
Pahoa town, with it's funky charm, is only 5 minutes away, with many unique shops and restaurants. Kehena Black Sand Beach is 18 minutes away, with a view of serene, swimmable coastal tide pools along the route. Be sure to visit Pohoiki Beach, a short drive through a dramatic coastal landscape of forest and lava to a black sand beach that is a favorite of local surfers. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a must see, about a 40 minute drive. Take a day trip to Kona on the other side or just a walk around the block, you'll see the Big Island's beauty is everywhere.
If you're looking for adventure, the Big Island is your best choice. If an unforgettable experience, like no other, is your desire, Lava Forest Retreat awaits you.
Aloha.

Everything was as advertised. Beautiful setting & very clean & comfortable, and you can't beat the lush view off the upstairs balcony ! The owner of this property was a wonderful hostess. She had some great eating suggestions, and also baked us some tasteful treats. All in All: Excellent Place to Stay !

Clean, well-kept and tranquil.
This a lovingly maintained property, and Christine is a gracious host. Youʻll marvel at the profusion of plants in her garden and in the rainforest that partly surrounds her property, all visible from a lovely lanai off this second-story suite! Comfortable and serene -- a genuine taste of Hawaii life far from the tourist resorts.

Unique, lovely, friendly
This is a special place owned and run by a special lady. The location is excellent with marvelous destinations nearby—if you can tear yourself away from the second floor deck ten feet away from the picture-perfect rain forest. Needless to add, it is highly recommended.

Wonderful Stay
My husband and I stayed here a couple nights on our honeymoon and we loved it! The property is in a lush, green environment and we went on runs/walks often to enjoy all the beauty. The room was wonderful, the shower had three shower heads, and the jacuzzi looks into a beautiful view of the greenery and sky. Christine was so thoughtful in providing everything we needed to feel comfortable, from house slippers to laundry amenities, and beyond. She also was very hospitable, gave helpful suggestions of activities available nearby. Overall a great experience!

Family Visit
We chose this property mainly because of how close it was to where our family lives in Pahoa. That being said, if we were to come visit again this property would definitely be a top choice. Christine was very hospitable and friendly and super quick to answer any questions we had about the property and its amenities.
