Surprised By Cleaning Company Decision
We arrived a short time before check in and had no difficulty entering the property. We assumed that the unit was available and began unloading our car. The first thing we did was to place several items in the refrigerator because they required a cold temperature.
Soon after, three people arrived and we learned that they were the property cleaners. They did not speak English and in attempting to communicate, they provided me with their I phone e which had a translator ap.
I explained that we had placed some items in the refrigerator and didn't realize that the house wasn't cleaned. I further explained that we would leave, go to lunch and return, with the intention of bringing in all our belongings. They indicated that they understood and we left.
When we returned, we were shocked to discover that all the items in the refrigerator were gone. I immediately called the agency and was told that because we entered before 4:00, all refrigerated items were removed and disposed of, in spite of my understanding that they would be OK in the refrigerator. The agent that I spoke with said that it was my problem and nothing could be done about it.
That is not a responsible answer. I explained that since the items were removed (about $50.00 worth without our knowledge or approval, we should be compensated for our loss. The agent said that she would get back to me and never did. Your appropriate and responsible next step should be to forward us a check for $50.00.
