About this property

CYCLOPS: A Cabin Escape in the Cascades

Featured by Cabin Porn, this one-of-a-kind cabin is ideal for adventure-seekers and those looking to unwind with a bit of a solitude. It's just minutes from epic hikes in the Cascades, legendary climbing at the Index Town Wall, paddling and swimming in the Skykomish River, and skiing and snowboarding at Stevens Pass. At the end of the day, get a fire crackling in the firepit outside, or cozy up inside with some games, a book, or the views of the surrounding forest from the six-foot round window.

CYCLOPS (named for the giant round window) is located in a gated community just outside of Index, WA. We built the cabin in the summer of 2021 as a passion project, excited to create a space for folks to come and enjoy this incredible part of Washington State.

Think of the cabin as semi-off-grid. It has some unique systems that may be new to you, but most of the modern amenities you’re used to. Please read the details to make sure it’s a good fit.

HEATING: An electric wall heater is the primary heat source. There is also a cool little electric fireplace to enhance the ambience. The fireplace also has a built-in heater.

SLEEPING: The cozy sleeping loft—accessed by a ladder—has a queen-sized Casper bed, Tuft & Needle pillows, and all brand-new linens.

KITCHEN: There’s a refrigerator, an electric kettle, and a pour-over coffee maker. Bring your favorite coffee or help yourself to our favorite blend in the black tin above the sink. We also have a two-burner induction cooktop and everything necessary for making simple meals, including pots and pans, cutting boards, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, and mugs. Potable, filtered water is pumped in from a large tank outside. The bartop in the coffee/dining nook features a topo map of the area with many of the local hiking trails on it.

BATHROOM: The bathroom has a shower and an incinerator toilet. There’s a small hot water heater that’s great for short showers, not long ones ;) and there are instructions for the toilet. It’s super easy to use. We provide towels, soap, and shampoo.

WIFI: Yeah, it is sloooow—sufficient for receiving WIFI calls and texts and light browsing, but not for streaming movies or downloading large files. We kind of like it that way. As such, we have books, cards, and board games. Plus, there’s a TV with a DVD player and about 20 movies to choose from to keep you entertained.

FIRE PIT: We recently put in a fire pit outside for you to enjoy a bonfire (so long as there is no burn ban in effect). Just bring some wood!

Guest access
There is ample parking in the driveway. Note that it is relatively steep until you get to the top. The cabin has a digital keypad on the front door. Just enter your personal code to enter.

SECURITY: We have a security camera on the front porch to help us keep an eye on the place and stay up-to-date on local weather conditions.

Great weekend away!
We had a great time at the beautifully built cyclops. Perfect spot to enjoy coffee or hot chocolate while watching the snow fall. Owners are easy to work with too!

Quick weekend getaway
We booked a last minute weekend stay at the Cyclops cabin and it was great! It rained all weekend but we stayed nice and cozy. The huge window was amazing and the whole cabin was perfect. Directions worked great and easy to get to! Would definitely go back!

Escape to the woods
Had a wonderful time at cyclops tiny house, such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature. Loved listening to the rain on the roof, sitting and enjoying the view through the giant window, and relaxing on the porch. The managers were very responsive when I had a question! Definitely want to stay here again!

About the host

Host profile image
We are Patrick and Bryan, two friends who built Cyclops together in the summer of 2021. A few years back, we both decided to quit our desk jobs to pursue carpentry and woodworking. We wanted to find a way to blend our love for the outdoors with our passion for building things. A cabin seemed to be the natural extension of that, and this cabin is the result. We really love how it turned out. We hope you do too, and that you have a great time staying here.
