About this property

Hummingbird Oceanside Suites: David Peak Suite

OCEANFRONT & MOUNTAIN VIEWS w/ HOT TUB & WOOD BARREL SAUNA

David Peak Suite - this waterfront suite is the largest of our four suites. It is attached to the house, but has its own exterior entrance, king bed, bathroom with rain shower, flat screen TV, dining area & kitchenette. Sleeps 2 people.

There’s no better place to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine to soak in the views! We’re often frequented by eagles, deer & if you're lucky whales!

Situated in Dorman Bay, our waterfront property is a fabulous location with incredible and expansive views to the North, East and South.

We’re only a 5 minute drive from Snug Cove (ferry, restaurants, shops), 15 minute walk to Dorman Point, and 10 minute walk to September Morn Beach.

We have two dwellings on the property: the main house and the cabin.

The main house accommodates 4 private suites (Cypress Mountain Suite, Mount Strachan Suite, St. Mark’s Summit Suite, and David Peak Suite). The suites range between 200 sq.ft to 250 sq.ft. Each suite has its own private exterior entrance, king/queen bed, private bathroom with rain shower, heated bathroom floor & heated towel rack, flat screen TV, dining area, and kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee machine, kettle, dishes & utensils). Due to our business license, we're not allowed to provide a hot plate/stove in our suites. The suites have access to three outdoor lounge areas, a shared hot tub, a shared wood barrel sauna, a lawn games field, a staircase to the ocean, and a communal fire pit area. All suites have access to high speed wi-fi and Netflix.

Search each suite name for its listings and availability.

Please note:
1. No children under 12 years old in our suites, but they are welcome in our modern cabin.
2. No pets are allowed on our property.
3. The suites are private rooms inside our main house and you can occasionally hear us upstairs as well as other guests in the rooms beside, so please be mindful and respectful of that.
4. Our driveway is very steep and cemented all the way down. There is one parking spot per suite down at the main house, but if you prefer, we have a gravel parking pad at the road, 100m past our driveway entrance.
*During the winter season, we recommend parking at the road if the driveway or the conditions during your stay are icy and/or covered in snow.*

About our other accommodation and shared spaces:

The cabin is 1,000 sq.ft. with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room with sofa bed, full kitchen, large patio, and private hot tub. Sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids.

The cabin has a separate listing (search Hummingbird Oceanside Suites: The Modern Cabin).

There is a wood barrel sauna down by the main house, which is shared between all the property guests.

The property offers a lawn games field (cornhole, bocce, and spike ball) above the main house parking lot for all guests to use and enjoy.

There is access to the ocean (no beach) using our wooden stairs down by the main house. Please use caution and use at your own risk. You can use the stairs between sunrise and sunset. If you plan on going swimming, the currents are very strong in our bay, so we recommend using life jackets.

There is a communal fire pit area above the lawn games area. This contained fire pit can be used by all property guests and each guest must provide their own firewood. You can bring your own wood or the General Store in Snug Cove sells firewood bundles. Use at your own risk, never leave your fire unattended, put out your fire when finished, and no fires during fire ban season.

Security Disclosure - Since we have 5 rentals on our property, we have four security cameras - all outdoors. One faces our driveway entrance gate, one faces down the driveway and the lawn games field, one faces our main house parking area, and one faces the oceanside shared lounge areas. They will be on during your stay.

Our family lives in the main house year-round (on the upper floor) and we look forward to meeting you!

Serene, clean, and like living in a photo.
We had the most peaceful stay we have had anywhere. Sitting in a hot tub with that view is a fantastic experience. Hosts are good at communicating and are proactive and thoughtful. Just the right amount of everything.

What a gem
This was just a beautiful property. The rooms were all new and updated with a beautiful bath. The check in/out process was easy and worry free. The island itself was so cute with tons of little shops, stores and restaurants. It was so relaxing to sit in the hot tube with the most amazing view as well as the sauna. If we could change one thing it would be that the room next to us ( St. Marks suite) was unoccupied the entire time we were there and definitely had the better views where you could see the ocean while laying in bed which we could not. When we first arrived we thought surely someone else will stay there but no-one ever came and since it was open we wish we could have stayed there. Nonetheless we had a fantastic time there and would go back in a heart beat.

Picturesque Location
Very close to town amenities (within walking distance), beautiful view, loved the hot tub and sauna overlooking the inlet. Very clean and comfortable. We arrived in a snowstorm and the driveway was a challenge to navigate, but by the end of the second day it was no problem to drive up and down it. If you are booking in winter and have mobility issues (or rolling suitcases) - you may want to chat with the owner ahead of time to make arrangements to safely get down the driveway if it is icy. The owner was very responsive to all communication.

Great time
It was very relaxing and good vibes. Everything you see on the pictures is available to you. They have pretty simple rules which are easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this place. The only thing is that you have to pay for ferry every time you want to go somewhere from the island.

Hi! My name is Melissa and I live on Bowen Island, Canada. I love to travel, hike, and enjoy the outdoors.

My husband, Dominic, and I moved to Bowen Island in November 2020. We both work on the island and look forward to meeting you!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property and Bowen Island in the summer of 2020 and then subsequently purchased the bare land lot in November 2020. Shortly after in March 2021, we started building the main house and the cabin simultaneously. In December 2021, my husband and I were able to move into the main house, and in February/March 2022 we slowly opened up the suites for guests. The cabin was ready by June 2022.

What makes this property unique

Situated in Dorman Bay, our waterfront property is a fabulous location with incredible and expansive views to the North, East and South.

We’re only a 5 minute drive from Snug Cove (ferry, restaurants, shops), 15 minute walk to Dorman Point, and 10 minute walk to September Morn Beach.

We have two dwellings on the property: the main house and the cabin.

The main house accommodates 4 private suites: Cypress Mountain Suite, St. Mark's Summit Suite, Mount Strachan Suite, and David Peak Suite.

The suites range between 200 sq.ft to 250 sq.ft. Each suite has its own private exterior entrance, king/queen bed, private bathroom with rain shower, heated bathroom floor & heated towel rack, flat screen TV, dining area, and kitchenette. The suites have access to three outdoor lounge areas, a shared hot tub, a shared wood barrel sauna, a lawn games field and a staircase to the ocean. All suites have access to high speed wi-fi and Netflix.

The Modern Cabin is a completely separate dwelling around 1,000 sq.ft. with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room with a sofa bed, full kitchen, large patio, and private hot tub. Sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids.

There is a wood barrel sauna down by the main house, which is shared between all the property guests.

The property offers a lawn games field (cornhole, bocce, and spike ball) above the main house parking lot for all guests to use and enjoy.

There is access to the ocean (no beach) using our newly built wooden stairs down by the main house. Please use caution and use at your own risk. You can use the stairs between sunrise and sunset. If you plan on going swimming, the currents are very strong in our bay, so we recommend using life jackets.
