About this property

Cozy, Modern Chalet Style Cabin – 0.5 miles to the zoo & 1 mile to Bear Mountain

Welcome to Gold Moon Chalet!

We’re here to host your next mountain getaway to Big Bear! Our 1960, mid-century chalet style cabin is a cozy, mountain modern space, ready for you to escape from it all. We want our cozy, warm, intimate chalet, with mid-century touches, to be your home away from home up here among the pine.

Conveniently located in the highly-desired Moonridge neighborhood, Gold Moon Chalet is a short trip away from the new zoo, mountain resorts and parking, hiking, lake, & more!

THE SPACE:
For us, being in the mountains is all about enjoying the “slow burn" — the idea of slowing down the pace and appreciating the beauty and comfort of all life’s small moments. From watching the light and shadows grow and fade in the forest throughout the day, to savoring all of the nuances of your favorite beverage under the canyon moon, to putting on a record, fireplace going, candles lit, blanket on, sitting with a loved one for a musical journey. Our chalet has been designed with this mentality in mind.

Sit back and relax on our cozy, curated furniture, which includes a high-quality fabric sofa and leather lounge chairs, as you set the vibe with a fire in our new fireplace stove. You can choose to put a record on the record player or turn on the smart TV and enjoy your favorite movie or show. Cook your signature recipe or make your favorite drink in our kitchen, complete with large farmhouse sink looking out into the forest, new appliances, various coffee making methods, beautiful dining ware, and bar set. And come home from a long day on the slopes and trails for the comforting refreshment of a shower in our new 70s sunset-inspired shower, recently featured on Fireclay’s website and Apartment Therapy's "Editor's Favorite House Tour Photos of 2021" end-of-the-year list.

Big Bear is the perfect place to disconnect and slowdown from the hustle and bustle stress of your regular life. We hope our chalet is a place where you can recharge, reconnect, and refresh your mind, body, and spirit.

HOUSE RULES:
Your booking request constitutes acceptance of below House Rules and complete acknowledgement of listing description. Please contact host with any questions, concerns, or requests before sending booking request.

Weather conditions can change rapidly, especially in winter. We cannot honor last-minute cancellations due to weather and road conditions. Always be prepared during winter for possible tire chain requirements and icy road conditions. In winter, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you arrive before dark so you can get settled in, warmed up, and enjoy a worry-free evening. Believe us… it is much nicer to enjoy the beauty of snow from the comfort of the chalet as opposed to being out in your car on a dark and icy mountain road. Guests who arrive late during the winter may encounter long delays and/or icy roads, which can be impassable for some vehicles. 4WD or AWD recommended in snow conditions.

Big Bear does not provide curbside trash removal for vacation rentals due to the tendency to attract pests/wildlife when homes are vacant. You'll be required to collect your trash at check-out and bring to nearby disposal site. The disposal site is Clean Bear Site #1 – 41974 Garstin Dr, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315. To get there from the chalet, drive north down Moonridge Road, past the Walgreens, across Big Bear Blvd, and it'll be about a half mile away from the intersection on the right. It can get busy on Sunday mornings as people check out of their rentals for the weekend, but is generally a fast experience.

Please wash all of the dishes you used during your stay to help prevent pests from moving in. Please clean them to a level of cleanliness you would expect and want for yourself. The water collection tray and drying rack are in the cabinet under the kitchen sink.

Please book your reservation for the correct number of guests. We cannot accommodate additional guests beyond the amount you have booked for. There is a maximum number of 3 guests allowed at the chalet. (This maximum number is not our personal preference – it's the law.) There is a charge of $30 per night for unauthorized guests under 3 people, $100 per night if over 3 people.

Keep the exhilarating activities on the slopes, lake, or trails! This is not a party house. Coming up to enjoy the beauty of Big Bear should definitely be a fun time, but this intimate space is not the kind of place for a rager. There is a $500 fee for a noise complaint and even more if there is damage.

We ask that there be absolutely NO PETS. If you bring a pet, you will forfeit the entire security deposit and are subject to AirBnB's cancellation policy for breaking the house rules. No exceptions.

If anything is broken or damaged during your stay, please let us know. We are understanding people and we get that accidents and mistakes happen. We would rather you tell us so we know to fix or replace it ASAP. It’s like what all of our parents, guardians, and teachers used to say -- being honest and upfront is always best when situations happen.

We are trying to be as low impact as possible, so help us be sustainable by being aware of your use of water, electricity, gas, and trash during stay at the chalet. Big Bear is big on water conservation, so please turn off water when not in use and be sensitive to your bathing time. Turn off lights and turn heater to 50 when not in use or any time you leave the chalet. Be aware of separating recyclables during your visit and dispose of properly at the dump site.
