About this property

Honeymoon Bay Cottage

Enjoy a memorable visit when you stay in this historic and unique beachfront cottage. This charming and historic former float home is over a century old! Like some others around the bay, it was brought up on land around 1950, and expanded upon in the years after.
The 1920 cottage’s unique character and warm happy vibes immediately come across upon arrival. It’s love at first sight for each lucky guest who holidays here.
Inside the house, you’ll find patina’d old original fir floors that slope and waver underfoot.
On the main level are the kitchen, dining, and living rooms, as well as the bathroom and three sleeping areas. The upper level holds bedroom #4.

Bedroom One is off to the side of the kitchen. It has a soft and feminine feel to it. In close view of the queen size bed(king non-allergenic duvet) is our newest acquisition, a lovely and romantic fireplace that turns on with the flick of a switch. There is a 10’ iPhone charger within easy reach of the bed, just incase you forgot yours at home! Decor palette is white, grey, pink, blond.

Bedroom Two is farther back in the house, with high ceilings and more dresser space for the guest who doesn’t pack light. The colour scheme falls to whites and blues, again with that old original wooden floor spread out beneath the bedside rugs. Warm tone bedside lamps offer a gentle alternative in the evening when winding down from a day out on the water, in the queen size memory foam bed.

Bedroom Nook
Even though this adorable little space holds only the basics, it is anything but! Lay back in bed and watch the early morning lake sit as still as glass. This L-shaped semi private area holds a twin size bed, lamps, antique bureau, comfortable chair, and bedside rug. All this is expertly fit just off the dining area, closed off behind a bamboo screen. This is area also holds two bookcases loaded with a curated selection of novels, fascinating local history, children’s books, and boardgames(both family and adult orientated), and quality binoculars to take in the sights outdoors.

Bedroom Four, our newest addition, is located in a section of converted attic space, with its own entrance off the front deck. A staircase leads you up off the main deck to an outdoor space of your very own! This small yet private deck holds a bistro set perfectly set to capture the extended view from this aerial perch. Inside, you will find two double beds, a vintage chair and handmade table by the window. The room is lit by the sun capturing skylight, two bedside lights, and an extraordinary antique handmade swag lamp over the larger dresser. The decor colour palette is white, gold, green, and sisal.
*Part of this room sits above Bedroom One, so be aware there can be some sound transfer between the two rooms, especially during quieter moments.

The dock has secure moorage if you care to bring a boat along to explore some of the 110kms of shoreline this lake has to offer. If you’re looking for adventures that are closer to base, take a kayak or SUP off the rack for a spin around the bay or beyond.
*There are different sizes of life jackets available but it is always advisable to bring one from home that is a secure fit!

The Bathroom holds a small sink/vanity, toilet, and an old vintage tub/shower combo.
We include shampoo/conditioner, face and body wash, hand soap. Also provided for your use are a hairdryer, flat iron, and curling wand. There are oft-forgotten toiletries in a basket such as: toothpaste, body lotion, sunburn aloe creams, etc. There are cleaning supplies in the vanity under the sink if your stay is long and you want to freshen things up.

The Kitchen currently holds a full sized fridge, four burner cooktop, double sink, and XL toaster oven. All dish-ware, glassware, cookware, cooking implements, utensils, and serving ware are provided. There is a comprehensive spice/seasoning rack and basic condiments in the fridge. There is no dishwasher, microwave, or full-size oven.

Although there is almost all day sun here, sunsets are where the real magic happens, they can be spectacular!
