Keith's Classic Film Retreat Rental Suite
About Keith Nieto
Set decorator, film maker and window dresser. I celebrate and love all the arts especially classic film. My design background started at Hunter College NYC and expanded working several years with Bloomingdale's NY.Living in both NYC and Boston I chose to move to the beautiful Hudson Valley to be near my beloved parents who shared their love of film with me. After studying film many years ago film has come to my doorstep in the last three years via a city film office and full sound stages just blocks from my home. How could I resist not getting involved with film making again?
Keith Nieto purchased this House in 1999
Why Keith Nieto chose Newburgh
This handsome property looks over beautiful historic Downing Park and pond. The park now has a wonderful cafe/coffee house just a short walk from my front door. I wanted a home with it's original detail still intact in a city/country like setting. Just minutes away from the majestic Hudson River and it's breathtaking views. AND a hop and a skip to NYC! Coffee and tea are always available and starting now Keith would like to invite guests to a cocktail hour in the dinning room or wonderful patio(under renovation but still usable) depending on the weather. I make a good vintage drink.
What makes this House unique
Belonging to a blossoming diverse community of forward thinking individuals who have welcomed me with open arms!

Not ready for prime time
A Broken dangerous unlit path to the house, old crumbling porch led into our rental. The owner stays in the house during your stay. The room to sleep in had broken blinds and only one window that opened. It is also near a very dubious part of the city. We were able to find a hotel for the second night, luckily.
Old houses are often an ongoing performance of different repairs. Before Cassandra's visit she was made aware both porches are in various stages of repair. Both of them accessible and safe. If you take the time to read the homes description it is made clear I reside in my home while I host guests. Thank you for the reminder Cassandra that we do need to replace one of the blinds in the bedroom and better lighting in the backyard entrance is needed. If you had any difficulties opening any windows I wish you would have asked...they all open.
I do find it sad that anyone would use the word "dubious" to describe a diverse, colorful, safe and friendly neighborhood.
Visiting Keith’s home is like walking into a time gone by. For those who love old homes and vintage furnishings, you will enjoy your visit. Downfall was the off street parking — make sure your vehicle has a good suspension system! Make sure you take the short walk to the Shelter House Cafe in Downing Park for breakfast or lunch! It is a gem with great food.
Charming and relaxing
Charming and comfortable period property in convenient location for Newburgh centre and also nearby scenic parks. Visited when Newburgh Illuminated festival took place, free event, great street entertainment and vendors. As a good host Keith provided an insight and information for the area which helped us a lot. Thank you.
Great set up and nicely decorated!
The owner is super nice and it is all done just right
Todd was a pleasure to host you and your family...I especially enjoyed my talks with your sons. Please feel free to think about staying with us again and enjoying the beautiful Hudson Valley in all its wonderful seasons. Thanks for the kind review! Cheers, Keith
Warm, Welcoming, Wonderful
I couldn't speak more highly of our stay with Keith at his Classic Film Retreat. For anyone using Homeaway seeking that extra-personal experience you can't get from a hotel, this home and its owner deliver in spades. He welcomed us and gave us the tour through this one of a kind house decked with photos from a bygone era and vintage decor. It started on the second floor with our bathroom and bedroom (in which he had put on a faux fire for us), and concluded in the lovely dining room on the first floor, where he joined us for coffee the next morning (as per our request). Keith was an excellent host, available but also allowing us our space and privacy. His knowledge and pride of Newburgh was evident as he provided historical anecdotes and much appreciated recommendations to local bars and restaurants. If we ever stay in Newburgh again, it will certainly be at Keith's Classic Film Retreat.
What a delightful young couple...I was very happy to hear they had a wonderful visit. We talked upon their arrival and had coffee the following morning. Their good energy and positive outlook on the world would be welcome in any home...and certainly mine again! I hope we have an opportunity to meet again...
The perfect host and beautiful house
We stayed here for one night. The house is beautiful and well maintained.
The host made sure that we had everything we needed. He was very respectful of our privacy as well.
I will definitely stay here again when we are back in the area.
It was a pleasure hosting you. Guests like yourself inspire hosts like myself to make stays memorable. Would love to have you visit again...anytime. Enjoy the rest of the Summer! Your host, Keith
Located in the city of Newburgh home to the 2nd largest historic district in the state. Walk thru 4 centuries of diverse architecture nesting along the beautiful Hudson river just 50 miles north of NYC.
