Travel and photography, two things I'd like to spend my entire life doing.... If you asked me where I wanted to live I'd say Africa, Sierra Leone if circumstances allowed it, if not, anywhere in Africa! Highlights - two days by boat to Timbuktu, straddling the equator and seeing where two oceans meet. An ever growing bucket list and so much more to see and do!

A Rural Idyll
We needed an escape from our busy and stressful lives in London and we knew we had found it when we came upon the mangroves.
The booking process was quick and easy and the owner Sumudu responded to our numerous queries quickly and comprehensively.
We were overwhelmed when we arrived, such a beautiful setting. The villa was larger than we expected with many quirky and rustic features. We loved the showers!
What can we say about the Wasantha, the Superman@Kos. He was such a joy. He is very unobtrusive but still attended to our every need. Nothing was too much trouble. He took us out in the boat around the mangroves, which was a fantastic outing and his patience didn't waiver in the face of our nautical ineptitude. We thankfully handed back the oars to him so he could get us back home before dark!
His culinary skills were outstanding and he cooked everthing we asked for. The food was simply presented and so tasty. We had a variety of different dishes every evening and we particularly enjoyed the bread fruit curry, dhal, gottukola sambol, loonu miris, pol sambol, chicken, fish and squid.
We were also shown how to pluck a coconut from the tree, cut into it and extract the water and flesh.
Wasantha also arranged a trip to a cinnamon plantation across the lagoon from the house, where we were shown how the bark is stripped and rolled before the drying process.
However, we spent the majority of our time sitting on the verandah, looking at the flora and fauna round the lagoon and the fishing activities of our neighbors. We hoped to have some lagoon crab but sadly on our brief three day visit we didn't have this pleasure.
We were sad to leave this oasis of calm which allowed us to relax and unwind.
Thank you Sumudu for allowing us to stay at your property and thank you Wasantha for looking after us so well.
Ali & Ray
That your stay with us was a good one is just what we hope for, that your time there was pleasant, relaxing and a happy one.
Wasantha had lots of wonderful things to say about you too, that you were such a pleasure to host, that it was his pleasure to show you around - well we do hope we might see you two again one day; our doors are open for to you.
