Close to the beach, just across Donner Pass Road to the public docs. Dog friendly and close to downtown for good eats. Will stay again.
Perfect to enjoy Donner Lake
The lake and piers are a short walk away in a peaceful neighborhood. We enjoyed relaxing in the home with our family, our dog, cooked often and walked to the water multiple times a day!! The owners checked in often and made us feel so welcome. So much that we're coming back again!

Close to ski resorts and easy access
Comfortable home. Important to note - this cabin is close to the 80 and you can hear the traffic when outside. I could see this being an issue in the Summer months. Winter season - you can't hear it from inside.
Cabin is very close to the main drag of Donner Pass Road. Keep that in mind if traveling with dog/ small kids. Wifi was very slow.
Lot next door is no longer vacant. Construction occurring during weekdays.
Thank you for your comments. There is still a vacant lot next door to this house. The owner of the property on other side of our vacant lot is completing construction. We kept the lot adjoining the house open to preserve the view of Donner Lake. Thanks for letting us know about the local Wifi provider. We will pursuer other options, and look to make a change right away. Thanks again!
Great location for skiing
It's a quick drive back to I-80, 89, Safeway, etc. in one direction and a straight shot to Sugar Bowl in the other. Very convenient location.
In terms of comfort, clearly feels like a rental house and not somebody's vacation home - furnished in a sturdy though comfortable way for maximum wear and tear resistance, so to speak. Nothing fancy, but everything complete. Master bed was comfortable with nice pillows and sheets, and other two bedrooms I assume the same - large beds in each.
Hosts are very responsive and accommodating.
Note: garage doors are regular height, and there is no street parking - driveway or (to hosts' preference, though it's a squeeze) side of house are the only places to put a taller vehicle (e.g. SUV with gear shell on top).
Pretty good stay
The best part of our stay was the 30 second walk across the street to the lake. I mean you really cannot beat the view/access that the home had to offer. That may change soon as new construction is coming up in the empty lots next to it. Overall the home was clean but upon further inspection needed a much deeper clean in the corners/crevices. It is also in need of quite a few repairs and upgrades around the front/back deck and bathroom areas. We needed more space but for a small family it would definitely work. Finally the overview of the house promises family games but none are onsite which was disappointing for my girls and would have been nice to know since we could have brought our own. If you are looking for a close stay to the lake this is your spot! Just be aware there is a lot of traffic on Donner pass road and the I-80 highway above.

Fish or Sunbathe from the Pier, Launch 'your boat' from the nearby Launch, Water Sports of All Kinds, Easy Access to Snow Skiing and Snow Boarding at Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Boreal, Sugar Bowl, Shopping and Dining in Downtown Truckee or nearby Tahoe City, River Rafting, More!

We love rafting on the Truckee River, winter skiing at Sugar Bowl, Squaw, Alpine, and Homewood, enjoying the private HOA beach, the Tahoe Donner club facilities, including fitness center, swimming pools, equestrian center, golf, restaurants, playground, downhill skiing, sledding, and the close proximity of this house to shops and restaurants in downtown Truckee.
Why Karri and Family chose Truckee
We like traveling with our dog, and appreciate that other families do too! This Donner Lake neighborhood is very dog friendly, and so is downtown Truckee. In winter, we ski at Squaw or Alpine and enjoy FAR LESS traffic going home than when we stayed in Tahoe City. It's also super easy to access Truckee off Highway 80 and easy drive back to San Francisco.
What makes this House unique
This cabin has a vacant lot to separate it from Donner Pass Road... so much quieter than being right on the road or Lake - Lake Views and easy access without all the road noise. We prefer a single story house - feels safer and more comfortable for both the grandchildren and the grandparents. The fully equipped kitchen and full-sized washer/dryer are a big plus for families traveling with kids.
