Charming Villa - Colares Sintra - Heated Pool by the Beaches

Sintra is a magical place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers many interesting and historical places to visit. A small village surrounded by castles, palaces, beautiful gardens and stunning views.

The village of Colares is 5 minutes walk where you will find fresh fish and vegetable market, butcher, grocery and bakery, medical station, bank, pharmacy, restaurants, etc.

Barca Charmhouse is near Sintra, surrounded by lush green forests, the blue ocean, wonderful local wines and excellent cuisine. Some suggestions of places to visit:

** Praia Grande - 2.8 km (1 1/2 miles) This is a beautiful beach great for surfing and has several good restaurants.

It has an ocean pool.

** Praia das Macas - 3 km (2 miles) Large saltwater pool, beautiful beach and good restaurants

** Azenhas do Mar - 4 km (2 1/2 miles) Azenhas do Mar boasts a stunning location, with houses perched on the side of a cliff and flowing all the way to the sea. It is bathed in a dreamy, beautiful and inspiring white light. A great place for great photos!

** Monserrate Palace - 4.5 km (3 miles) The Monserrate Palace is a grand and majestic venue that blends Indian and Arabic architectural styles.

The splendid gardens have over 2500 different plant species.

** Quinta da Regaleira - 8 km (5 miles) Quinta da Regaleira is a unique place in the world. The gardens were designed to represent an ancient secret order, with hidden tunnels and hidden symbolism. Following the path through the Initiation pit will make you feel in another world.

** Seteais Palace - 7km (4 1/2 miles) Seteais Palace is a neoclassical palace located in Sintra. It is now a luxury hotel, restaurant and tourist attraction included in the Sintra Cultural Landscape and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

** Sintra National Palace - 7.5 km (4 1/2 miles) Sintra National Palace is the best preserved medieval royal palace in Portugal and was a favorite of the Portuguese nobility. Its first historical reference dates back to the tenth century.

** Sintra - 10 km (6 miles) is a picturesque village offering many opportunities to buy a unique Portuguese gift or souvenir. There are numerous cafes and restaurants. You will not want to miss the opportunity to taste the typical Portuguese Sintra cakes, called "pillow and queijadas".

Moorish Castle - 8 km (5 miles) Moorish Castle is a hill-top medieval castle set in the lush forests of the Sintra Mountains and was built in the 8th century by the Moors of North Africa to protect the village from Sintra

** Pena Palace - 10 km (6 miles) The wooded grounds of Pena Park surround the beautiful Pena National Palace. This area was specifically designed by King Fernando II, who wanted the grounds to be a maze of romantic paths to delight his guests. You will love!

** Cabo da Roca - 10km (6 miles) Cabo da Roca is the most westerly point in Europe and until the 14th century was considered one of the 4 corners of the world. A place to take breathtaking photos.

** Condensa de Edla Chalet - (8km) A beautiful chalet and garden in Pena Park. The eclectic decor uses decorative tiles, cork, stucco and murals to portray the romantic taste of the time.

The charming fishing village of Cascais is not far away and there is public transport there. There you will find excellent restaurants, nightlife, shopping and many photo opportunities.

Lisbon also has easy access by train or car. You will not want to miss this lovely city. 37 km by car (23 miles)

Ericeira is considered by many to be the Surf Mecca of Europe, due to the exceptional coastal conditions for surfing. 26 km (16 miles).

And for golf enthusiasts, there are five golf courses all within 20 miles (Penha Longa, Estoril Golf Club, Quinta da Beloura, Quinta da Marinha and Oitavos Dunes)
