About Mary Duryee
I grew up in the Northwest, and came to the Bay Area to go to school. Almost immediately I fell in love with fall light in Berkeley, and haven't left since. I still live locally, and feel lucky every day to be in the Bay Area.
Mary Duryee purchased this Bungalow in 1984
Why Mary Duryee chose Thousand Oaks
This bungalow is my first home in the Bay Area. I bought it because it was what I could afford at the time -- it needed a lot of attention. Then I came to realize what a find it was -- for its neighborhood; the unique combination of small town manageability surrounded by a variety of vibrant cultural offerings; and, the accessibility of open space with myriad means of enjoying it - by foot, car, bike, kayak. During the last 3 decades I have worked to polish it into a comfortable, easy, and healthy place to live.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Albany offers small scale living, in the middle of sophisticated surroundings: easy walking and biking to all services, while in close proximity to a major academic center, significant culinary opportunities, and one of the loveliest cities in the country.

Sisters Long Weekend
Cute house in a wonderful neighborhood. Local bakery and market were very handy. Back yard very tranquil. House provided everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.
Weekend in Albany with our 3 girls
We closed out a Northern CA adventure with a 3-night stay in Albany. Great location, very charming home! Lovely neighborhood!
Perfect Stucco California House
Well stocked, attractive interior, comfortable beds, wonderful patio and small backyard, clean, and close to all you need. The only issue we had (if you're not a California resident) is the trash. So much info about what goes where, how to dispose of it, wrap this up, wrap that up, very confusing if this isn't something you have to do at your own home. Lots of instructions and bulletins. But otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house and would stay there again. .
Thanks Carol, for bearing with our recycling process! So glad your stay was otherwise satisfying.
Mary & Libby
Great house, location, host
We could not have been more comfortable at Mary Durea’s house. Every amenity was provided. The house is lovely and well located. We will definitely be back.
This is our 5th stay at this property. We love the home , it’s location and Albany . Central to all communities and our family.
Thank you Mary for your improvements and hospitality.
This is the third time I’ve stayed at Mary’s house and it was terrific as always. This time there was a problem with a window and Mary and Libby came over immediately to fix it. They are both wonderful and the house is comfortable and spacious. It rained the entire time so we didn’t get a chance to use the garden, but it is lovely, too.
So glad to have you back. I hope you hit the sunshine lottery when you come to California again.
We have mixed feelings about it -- it is so good to be out of the drought. AND, it did seem to go on and on this year!
The home is in Albany and close to the intersection of three other East Bay cities: Berkeley, El Cerrito, and Kensington.
