About the host

Host profile image
We have a four-year-old daughter and we both work in Environmental Education: Zaria for a small charity based on a boat on the Thames, and David freelance as a consultant and contributor to similar organisations. We love our local area and we often cycle around, up to and along the Thames. We enjoy the mixed culture of the area, which is fast improving and gaining variety.

Why they chose this property

The character of the property was what attracted us to it nearly six years ago. It has the unusual feature of cabin stairs in the centre of the house. We have original wooden floors, stone floor in the kitchen, open fireplaces and stripped wooden doors. This house would suit a family as we have a children's room with bunk beds (although we only have one child), and plenty of toys and books for children aged 3-5. The proximity of the park and the playground is a huge advantage for children.

What makes this property unique

The immediate area is quiet, and has clean air and little traffic due to being in a cul-de-sac. This makes it safe for children, and good for bicycles. There is also an excellent real-ale pub at the bottom of the street, which plays celtic music on Thursdays (it's a well-kept secret). Within walking distance is the pizza pub the Chandos, and seveal charming cafes, and at time a coffee van comes up to the park. In particular, in spring and summer the riot of purple flowers on the Wysteria that surrounds the house is a delight.
