About this property

Longueville Castle, the Thines Malarce valley on Thines

In the castle of 210 sq.m with:
- 2 bedrooms and 1 shared bathroom
- 1 master bedroom with en-suite bathroom
- 1 living room of 50 sq.m with kitchen corner
- 1 kitchen/dining of 50 sq.m being finished
- 1 library of 30 sq.m
- 1 south-facing terrace overlooking the valley.

The castle is being restored; we maintained its authenticity and its charm. Isolated from the noise and from pollution, you will spend a relaxing stay enjoying the activities that the region offers: canoeing, horse riding, fly-fishing, hiking, visit of the typical Cevennes villages.
In July and August, in Thiens and the surrounding villages, there are many events: exhibitions, theatre, dancing, garage sales, festivals, etc.
There are also good restaurants where to taste the regional specialities, as well as excellent wine.
5 min away on foot there is a swimming corner in a river that flows on the granite and creates natural pools and slides.

The 2 bedrooms with shared bathroom have both 1 bed of 140 and, in one of them, there is a cot of 90 and in the other one, in the adjoining tower, a cot of 90. The bathroom has a shower, a wash basin and toilet.
The master bedroom of 40 sq.m has a large bed of 180 with independent mattresses and electric motor. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, 2 washbasins and 1 enclosed WC.
The living room is furnished in English Renaissance style and the kitchen corner has a worktop with a 4 hobs gas cooker, 1 microwave, 1 fridges and 1 sink. No dishwasher. There is a bar in front of the kitchen corner.
In the library you can find an important choice of books.
The south-facing terrace, on which overlook the living room, is equipped with garden tables and chairs.

I'm a retired of 67 years and I worked in the pharmaceutical industry. When I retired I had to find an activity. The restoration of this 13th century medieval castle satisfied all my needs.
Practically, when you restore a castle, in ruins as this, there is no ready recipe; every time you have to think for find the best solution, or the least bad; and is this continuous consideration that is exciting.

Why they chose this property

When I stopped my activity I wanted to change region, have more sun and especially be quite. And you will see why here is the right place.
Additionally it is a 13th century medieval castle!!!

What makes this property unique

First of all, the environment: in a valley of the Cévennes that descend from the plateau to 1100 m to reach the plain on Vans.
The castle is slightly in height in relation to this valley e the view is fantastic.
Then, the castle itself with all its past; defensive fortress inhabited by the lords of Longueville since 1260.
Finally, it is quiet. Don't come here for dancing, you will be disappointed. You also should plan your shopping, because the first mall is 30 min away.
