Elevate your vacation by rock-climbing around Reus
About 7 miles from Spain's northern Mediterranean coast, this dynamic, medium-size city is known for its wine production, rock-climbing spots, and cool Catalonian architecture. Reus was settled in the 12th century and you'll feel and see its history as you wander the quaint, cobblestone streets. Reus vacation rentals are also a great way to see the famed Catalan Modernist art movement in action in the area's buildings and decorative arts. The nearby Prades mountains, where you can go bouldering, climbing, and hiking, will definitely elevate your experience too.
Reus has it all, from Roman ruins to raging rides
If you're traveling with kids, they'll have a blast in Reus. There are at least 3 nearby theme parks, including PortAventura Theme Park, Ferrari Land, and Aquopolis Costa Dorada. Parc Sama botanical garden is worth a sniff and a few snapshots. Feed your artistic side when you see the Gaudi Center museum, dedicated to the famous Catalan Modernist architect of the same name who was born in Reus. You can head to Tarragona and stop by the Amfiteatre, a 2nd-century Roman gladiator arena overlooking the sea. You can also explore the underground ruins of Cric Roma, a chariot-racing track and tower from the 1st century.
Get your belay on in the beautiful Prades mountains
The nearby Prades mountains is world-famous for climbing, but Reus is not just for climbers. It has a few festivals that take its already lively atmosphere up a few notches. If you love a good party, you'll find many during Carnival or Mardi Gras in February. In June, the Sant Pere festival is a weeklong smorgasbord of concerts, shows, and celebrations. Don't leave without hitting the beach on the nearby coast, and while you're at it, take a vineyard tour or at least visit 1 of the area's many wineries. And you've got your pick of the garden with all the delicious Catalonian restaurants.
You get the most bang for your buck with this varied scenery
With Reus vacation rentals, you get the best of all landscapes—pastoral rural wildlife areas, bustling urban neighborhoods, and the scenic Mediterranean coastline. Beautiful nature preserves and mountains surround Reus's metropolitan area, and 9 miles away is Tarragona coast. The province of Tarragona itself is hilly, and peppered with historic sites (remember, this area was settled in the 12th century), rivers, woodlands, sandy beaches, and low-elevation ranges like the Prades mountains. You're likely to spot white herons, glossy ibis, lynx, boars, and wolves—oh, and probably about a thousand types of ducks.
