Less than 10 miles from numerous marinas and sandy beaches along the Pacific Ocean, waterfront recreation is a big draw in the area. Winters are on the cooler side, and average lows dip down to 48 degrees in December and January, with highs in the mid-60s. The nearest airport is in Los Angeles Intl. (LAX), located 3.1 mi (5 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that works for your travel itinerary, you can also fly into Hawthorne, CA (HHR-Hawthorne Municipal), which is 2.8 mi (4.5 km) away.
