There's a whole world of talent in Saint-Denis
Known throughout the world for the Stade de France stadium, there's much more to Saint-Denis than just soccer and rugby. French monarchs are buried in the 12th-century Basilica Cathedral, and Cinema City is one of Europe's leading movie studios. Formerly an industrial center, the town's now known for its street markets, cultural festivals and burgeoning art scene. Saint-Denis vacation rentals also make ideal bases to visit such nearby attractions as Galeries Lafayette, Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame Cathedral.
Be sure to wear something blue to the Stade de France
If you're a film fan, you've come to the right place. Even though it only opened in 2012, Cinema City is now one of Europe's most important movie studios. Designed by famous French filmmaker Luc Besson, the studio has produced several major action movies. The Stade de France is one of Europe's biggest stadiums, and hosted the FIFA World Cup Final in 1998, and the Rugby World Cup Final in 2007. And the Gothic-style Basilica of Saint Denis is the burial place for all but 3 of France's kings.
Where the sporting, culinary, and cinematic worlds collide
Since the Stade de France first opened in 1998, Saint-Denis has become a go-to destination for sports fans the world over. The 81,000-seater stadium is home to both the French soccer and rugby team, so there's lots of top sports events to go to. The cosmopolitan Saint-Denis Market, with its Asian and African stalls, is a must for foodies, while culture lovers will go absolutely gaga for Cinema City, and The Museum of Art and History. You might also want to add other must-see nearby attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Palace of Versailles, or Paris Opera to your agenda.
Saint-Denis—where the weather's never boring
Saint-Denis has a climate that is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Stream. This makes conditions mild for most of the year. Winters are cool, with daytime highs in the mid 40s in December and January. Sunshine can be scarce this time of the year and conditions are damp. Spring and autumn weather is moderate and changeable, with both warm spells and cold snaps bringing unseasonable conditions. Saint-Denis vacation rentals see summer weather that's pleasantly warm, with daily highs reaching the upper 70s in July and August.
Saint-Denis—where nature's on your doorstep
Although it's heavily populated, Saint-Denis is very close to a diverse ecosystem. Created in 2008, Haute-Ile Park skirts the Marne river. Within this rich wetland habitat, you'll come across many different aquatic plants, insects, amphibians, and birds along its walking trails. Haute-Ile Park has observation cabins with loopholes to view birds in their natural environment without disturbing them. There are lots and lots of birds to see, including gulls, swans, and ducks, as well as kingfishers, sparrows, and grey herons.
